The California Conservation Corp is one agency that takes care of the forest management. Creating fire breaks, cleaning up the forest of old trees and dead debris. I don’t understand what happen to this great commodity we had in our youth.
Bruce Saito is leading the California Conservation Corps in its mission to protect and enhance California’s natural resources and communities. Perhaps the youth 18 to 25 years of age have other interests today and are not interested in joining the CCC.

Started September 7, 1976 The California Conservation Corps, or the CCC, is a department of the government of California, falling under the state cabinet-level California Resources Agency. The CCC is a work development program specifically for men and women between the ages of 18 to 25, offering work in environmental conservation, fire protection, land maintenance, and emergency response to natural disasters. Members of the CCC are referred to as “Corpsmembers”, and are paid minimum wage for their work.
There are many men and women from the CCC fighting the wild fires of California today.
